Reflection on MPU

Friday, 27 November 2015 07:57

Through the first week of MPU studies, I learned about what is the importance of choosing a specific goal, trying to achieve a goal, finding ways to achieve goal, and also figure out the potential threats that we might face while achieving our goals in life.

I think that the reason that college offers such programme is to let us to know more about ourselves in order to achieve our goals in life.
Action plans, SWOT analysis and also the tests enable us to understand more about ourselves and figure out what is suitable for us to be in the future.

This programme brought a lot of benefits for me as I learned to create videos and slides using prezi, powtoon and even using a blog well.
Besides, there are also presentations which enable us to present our ideas in our videos or slides.
I think that this helps a lot as I proceed to my university life.

I understand myself well and will always work hard to achieve my goal in life.

A story

04:34

I remember during form 3, I started being rebellent as I knew a group of friends, but they are not bad, it's just that we like to make fun, play and gossip in class which we always make our mathematics teacher, Mdm. Tay angry. However, Mdm. Tay is a very weird teacher, she likes to blame students for nothing, likes to call students to her office and just stand there for nothing, literally she is not a good teacher for all of the students that she taught.
During parents teachers day, the teacher started blaming me in front of my dad. My dad scolded me in front of many other teachers and I teared. I was very unhappy of what my dad did. I thought that he should not do this which embarrassed me. Then I started to refuse to talk to my dad. Even my mum, which also blamed me after this.
And this continued for 2 days, which I did not talk to my parents or even to bother them.
But at the 3rd day, I reflected myself and I apologized to my parents. My mum cried and hugged me tightly.

I felt so sad because I made my parents upset. I have forgotten that parents will always forgive us and love us as how we are even after we did something which is disappointing. But through this incident, I realized my childishness and tried to change.
I became more understanding and forgiving. I tried to spend more time with my family to communicate with them,  and also do well in my academic to make them proud. After this, I payed most of my attention in studies for my PMR examination and I got good results to enter the first class in form 4.
This made a change in my life which I really started focus my studies to meet my parents' expectations. This is because I knew what my parents expect is always good for us.
My future plan is to continuously study hard and work hard for my future to give a better life for my family. Lastly, in future life, with this event that occurred, I will always teach the next generations to appreciate what the parents gave to them and this good moral value will be passed down constantly.

Popplet presentation

Monday, 23 November 2015 20:16

My mathematical studies is taught by Ms.  Soh, our dearest lecturer.
For me, I think that studying mathematics enhanced our thinking and problem solving skills, because as we encounter mathematics questions or problems, it always requires us to think. Moreover, the questions are based on real life application which is very useful for us to apply our knowledge on our daily life. Not only calculating discounted prices but also the population of animals or human and many more.
Furthermore, doing our maths folio also required us to use graphic calculator and Microsoft words or excel which enhances our digital literacy for future use of work in the society.
Our communication skills also improved by studying mathematics as we always need to discuss with our friends, or even consulting our lecturer.
Besides, mathematics is the subject that is learned throughout every stages of our life. It is very important in life that we know how to do basic calculations. Therefore, it enables us to learn lifelong as we need mathematics in our daily life.

Throughout the discussion and presentation, I learned that it is important for us to have all the skills we need, especially the top ten skills showed today for our future work.

My kind of learning style

Sunday, 22 November 2015 23:53

The results of the VAK Learning Styles Self-Assessment Questionnaire showed that I prefer Visual learning style the most.
I agree with it because in college, our lecturers usually show us videos related to our studies which this enhanced a lot on my understanding of what I am studying.
I cannot really do well with just listening to instructions but I can have a better performance after watching someone else's demonstrations.
This is why I often go on youtube to search for study materials to have  better understanding of some scientific theories.

This is my friend Ng Swee Lynn who has Auditory learning style.
Her student ID: 1501G100384
She is my tutee for Psychology subject in college. She is the kind of person who can perform well by listening to instructions. This is why she can learn effectively when I teach and explain to her the theories for Psych.

Vivian Chiong is my friend who prefers Kinaesthetic learning style more.
Her student ID: 1503G101200
She prefers physical experience in order to learn something new for her, she performs better by going ahead and trying things out on herself.
